Local units such as Municipalities, Special Provincial Administrations, Development Associations, and Local governments would finance considerable amount of the projects. Most of the local administrations including municipalities benefit from EU funds within the framework of infrastructure, environment, tourism, education, investment incentives, planning and other similar subjects.
Small and Medium Enterprises (SME)
EU provides investment aid to SMEs within the framework of the Regional Development Program. SMEs in cities which are selected to receive Regional Development funds would receive non-recourse grants from the EU up to 50 percent of their investments. Many SMEs in Turkey, accomplish investments through these funds.
Large Corporations
Large corporations can not be the direct beneficiary of the EU grants. They may get involved with Social Responsibility Projects only by contributing to projects supported by the EU.
NGOs
Being one of the most important partners of the accession process to the EU, Civil Society Institutions may receive large amounts of money from the EU grants to finalize their projects. EU supports civil society institutions in Turkey, especially those focusing on education, healthcare, rights of the disabled, women and children.
Professional Organizations
The constitutional amendments made during the EU accession process affects all sectors. The first condition to be in the European Market is to provide production, sales and after sales services compatible with EU laws. Professional Organizations have to lead their sectors throughout the adaptation process. EU grants funds for these types of projects.
Universities
EU provides financial support for universities on aspects such as science, art, student-academician exchange, inter-institutional partnership. Furthermore, universities may be partners in all the EU projects.
